Fun fact! Ground fog does not reach as high as any of the clouds overhead. It usually forms at night. Fog that is said to “burn off” in the morning sun is radiation fog. Advection fog forms when warm, moist air passes over a cool surface. #alaskansummers #cloverpassresort

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

There isn't much to it since we provide everything you need to fish, dine, and lodge in the Salmon Capital of the World.  Read these FAQ's and you'll most likely get all the answers you need.
> View all FAQ's

When's The Best Time to Fish for Salmon

The best time to fish in Ketchikan really depends on what you want to catch.

King salmon (Chinook): The season is strongest in mid-June to early July. Kings are the biggest salmon and the hardest to catch.

Pink salmon: The season is strongest July through mid-August. Pinks are typically the most plentiful salmon when they arrive.

Silver salmon (Coho): Peak runs hit late July through September. Silvers are in-between kings and pinks for both size and amount that pass through the area.

Chum salmon: Often chum peak in mid summer.

Halibut and bottom fish: Available all season long, from June through September.

There's a period late July to early August where every salmon species and halibut are all in play. Late September can bring incredible silver fishing and fewer crowds.

In short: you can catch fish all summer, but July and August are the most popular months because you can target multiple salmon species plus halibut in the same trip.”

What Airport Do I Fly Into?

Book a flight into Ketchikan International Airport. We’ll arrange transportation to the lodge and back to the airport.

Are Your Lodges All-Inclusive?

A: Yes! Our packages are all-inclusive, meaning once you arrive in Ketchikan we take care of everything*. Your stay includes comfortable accommodations, all meals prepared by our chef, guided (or self-guided) fishing with all the gear you’ll need, fish processing and packaging for the trip home, and transportation between the airport and the lodge.

The only things not included are your travel to Ketchikan, fishing license, gratuities, alcoholic beverages, and any personal items, extras from our pro-shop, or souvenirs.

What’s the Difference Between Your Three Lodges?

We operate three unique lodges in Ketchikan, each offering a different style of Alaskan fishing adventure:

The Cedars Lodge – Located right in Ketchikan, The Cedars is perfect if you want the convenience of staying in town. It’s a charter-only lodge, meaning every trip is guided by experienced captains. Guests love it for its easy access, comfortable accommodations, and the fact that you don’t need to worry about navigating a boat yourself.

Clover Pass Resort – About 15 miles north of downtown, Clover Pass gives you flexibility. You can choose self-guided fishing (take out your own skiff with our gear and instructions) or go with a professional charter trip. This lodge is popular with families and groups that want options, and it has a more laid-back, “out of town” feel while still being easily accessible.

Silverking Lodge – Tucked away on Duke Island, just a short 10-minute boat ride from Clover Pass, Silverking is all about the remote Alaskan experience. It’s primarily self-guided fishing, which means you’re out on the water with your own boat each day, but still supported with gear, meals, and fish processing. The island setting gives it a peaceful, wilderness atmosphere with plenty of wildlife around.

In short:
The Cedars Lodge = in-town, charter only.
Clover Pass Resort = north of town, mix of self-guided & charter.
Silverking Lodge = island getaway, self-guided focus.

What Do I Need to Bring With Me?

1. For all nonresidents 16 and older, you'll need to purchase a fishing license here- http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=license.main
Make sure and add a "King Salmon" stamp.  Even if you are not King Salmon fishing you probably won't want to throw one back if you accidentally catch a big King Salmon. You can also buy a fishing license at our shop when you get here.
2. Bring personal items. Bring the normal stuff when you travel. Some people bring their own rain gear even though we provide it if you don't.
3. If you want to drink, bring your own alcoholic Beverages. We provide soft drinks.
4. You don't need to bring money for meals, but bring what you need for gratuities. We provide quite a bit of snacks and desserts but people tend to still buy snacks and swag.

How Many Fish Can I Expect to Catch

Part of the fun of fishing is never knowing what treasure will be on the other end of your line. Limits are ranging from 1 to 6 per day max per person depending on the species for Salmon. Sometimes there are periods where one species is leaving the area, and the other hasn't arrived yet, so the fishing can stall a bit. In those times, even if the catch isn't great, the fishing is always a blast. Halibut is available all season. It is always an epic adventure.

What is The Food Like?

Expect everything from Prime Rib to a Sea Feast from our expert Chefs.  You will eat like a King with 3 square meals and an unlimited supply of snacks, soda,  and desserts. The level of fine dining is usually the biggest surprise for guests who experience some of the freshest food they have ever tasted while traveling. We provide a hot breakfast, a packable lunch so you can get more time fishing, and then we go all-in on a 3-course dinner for your dining pleasure.
