Ketchikan hosts many arts-themed events throughout the year and boasts many galleries displaying a variety of art – from landscape paintings to native handicrafts. The town, built on a steep hillside and pilings over the water, is also home to a wealth of historic attractions, from Dolly’s House to the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center to Saxman Village. Do not miss the chance to visit Misty Fjords National Monument, located approximately 22 miles east of Ketchikan. The park, accessible only by boat or float plane, is an incredible spectacle of roaring waterfalls, rock cliffs and crystal-clear lakes.
